IMG targets Germany as the first foreign country to affirm its leadership across the border

PRESS RELEASE

Italian company based in Capriano del Colle has developed the world’s first full electric machine, that it will present as a preview in Düsseldorf.  The CEO Barbara Ulcelli: ‘Environmental impact, cost control and safety are the three pillars for the market: a commitment put into practice for sustainability’. Announced for the future: the first Sustainability Report and the Benefit Society certificate

Capriano del Colle (BS), 12th October 2022 – IMG, a leader in the field of elastomer injection moulding machines, is looking across the border, specifically to Germany, to export its know-how and expand its business. The aim is to explore this difficult new market, where everything is played out on quality, innovation and sustainability, concepts that the Brescia-based company is now firmly rooted in. As a leader in Rubber Valley – that is, the world-famous Sebino district, which includes part of the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia – it wants to establish itself as a partner of excellence on German soil as well, where the market is mainly contested by high-profile local companies.

For its debut in Germany, IMG will present the REM 300, the world’s first full electric rubber press, already one of the winners of the Tech Fast announcement by the Lombardy Region. REM 300 will be previewed at the K trade fair in Düsseldorf (19-26 October), the main event for the rubber-plastics sector worldwide. A product with a high level of innovation, both in terms of performance and approach to sustainability, with consumption reduced by 40% compared to a normal hydraulic press. An absolute novelty in the rubber product moulding sector that, after decades of using hydraulic presses (from the 1950s to today), offers several improvements.

IMG looks across the border, to Germany in particular, to establish a recognised leadership in the Sebino district, considered the world’s Rubber Valley.

The environmental impact is certainly among them: REM 300 works without hydraulic oil, a substance that usually has to be changed in moulding machines every 5,000 hours. A significant cost saving in terms of supply and disposal. The machine also guarantees a reduction in energy consumption thanks to ‘plug and play’, which allows power to be used only when it is actually needed.

Its performance should be highlighted: the management electronics of this innovative machine allow for much more precise settings and monitoring, higher mould quality, easy and intuitive set-up, as well as greater speed and repeatability to avoid discrepancies.

IMG has long been investing considerable resources to help reduce the environmental impact of industrial production in the sector. “A paradigm shift that IMG is currently developing towards sustainability, a green vision that finds concreteness in a product with revolutionary features and that we hope will open new horizons, even in one of the most challenging foreign markets such as Germany,” explains Barbara Ulcelli, IMG CEO. Environmental impact, cost control and safety are today the three pillars on which the market has become extremely sensitive and which therefore open up important spaces for growth”.

16 years after its foundation, the company has started a process of growth in the sustainability field, not only in the green sense, but also in the cultural and social spheres. “We give space to bright young minds,” Ulcelli continues, “We want to be an ideas and projects hub, where every employee finds professional and personal satisfaction. We are linked to our territory, which we try to support on numerous occasions”.

In 2019, the company conducted its first employee ‘climate’ survey. The aim is to repeat it in January 2023. In addition, the first Sustainability Report is planned for 2023. “And that’s not all,” Ulcelli announces, “we want to do more by becoming a Benefit Company, thus joining the ranks of the thousand or so Italian companies that have formalised this in their articles of association. Benefit Societies started to exist in Italy in 2016, the second country in the world after the United States to introduce into its legal system a form of law that commits entrepreneurs to carrying out their activities by pursuing, in addition to profit, objectives that contribute to long-term environmental, social and economic prosperity.
